Time Out
Sorry, I have to call a time out!
I am spending all my time getting installed in my new flat, where I am not even online yet. I'll catch up with you soon!
Look here to find out, where I am in the world today, what I'm up to, and what's on my mind. Whatever is only relevant to Danes will be in Danish. Other stuff I'll post in English.
Sorry, I have to call a time out!
Friday morning I'm off. Off to Struer in the NW of Denmark to start in a new job with Bang & Olufsen. Fortunately, I've already found myself a new lair - and this is it.
I'd like to express my deepest sympathy with the people of the UK and the loathing I feel towards the people who bring themselves to carrying out such unjustifiable acts.
"We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all the Crusader governments that they will be punished in the same way if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He who warns is excused." Source: BBC NewsAlas, I fear that such dreadful forces might be mobilising in Denmark too.
This photo (like the next) is taken from the balcony of Chafic's family's flat. In the horizon you can see the sea and Beirut city.
As day turned into night I took this picture and I was happy to catch both the warmth of the sun and some fireworks in the photo. Beautiful isn't it?
Shortly before we left Chafic and I were caught in our wedding clothes. Yeah, we had to take our jackets off. It was baking hot in the flat...
This is Chafic's little cousin, who was tempted beyond belief by the little sweet petit fours that were passed around among the guest, while the photographs were "taking care of" the bride.
From the left
After a photo marathon in the flat of Chafic's parents, father and bride could finally leave and lead a long parade of cars driving to the country club where the wedding was held.
The actual ceremony was amazingly beautiful. Set on the top of a high cliff we saw the sun setting in the background - into the blue mediteranean sea, as the priest chanted in arab and french and wed Marwan and Rania.
There was some kind of welcoming ceremony with musicians in arab attire where the couple danced in the middle, while we were clapping out hands like mad.
Check out Chafic! This photo is more flattering than the one of me wearing the same hat. In Denmark we call it a "Fez", but I know it is called something else in Libanon. Chaf, help me out here!
It was truly a party for the newly weds, and they were leading the way onto the dance floor throughout the night.
This is a girl who knows how to party. Chafic's sister "Rania" went through a lot that day, and I was truly impressed with her energy - full of power!
There were perhaps 20 other tables like this one and chefs who'd prepare your pasta on the fly and serve you freshly cut grilled meats. Delicious, delicious... Though my belly is big, it wasn't big enough at this occasion.
The only picture of me, with both bride and groom. The flash in my face hides the sunburn I got from just ONE hour at the beach two days earlier. The sun in Libanon is scorching, so be ultra carefull!
In many ways the wedding was spectacular. Feast your eyes on this huge wedding cake, the beautiful couple and the fireworks in the background.
The dancing was great. We danced to both western pop music and arab music. The dance floor was actually so tempting that I forgot to have any dessert, alas! On the other hand who cares when you can boogie to the beat.
